Havana, Apr 7 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero praised today, Cuba's health sector professionals on the occasion of World Health Day.

Both senior leaders highlighted in their Twitter profiles the work of those who, according to Díaz-Canel, provide the most generous human service, inside and outside Cuba.

The President thanked the Pan American Health Organization-Cuba (PAHO-Cuba) for its historical collaboration in confronting the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the head of government described these professionals as ‘our heroes in white robes’, who, he said, keep alive one of the greatest conquests of our Revolution: Health for all.

Referring to the same topic, Cuban Health Minister José Ángel Portal pointed out that the slogan “Health for all” is the essence defended by the Revolution for more than 60 years, and which sustains the work of the National Health System.

Cuba has a free, accessible, universal health system that does not discriminate against races or creeds. It covers the entire national territory through all levels of care and it is based on the high professional skills of its workers.

Currently, Cuba has a total of 450 polyclinics and more than 11 thousand office spots for family doctors and nurses.

The international work of the island in this sector is highlighted, with the presence of its doctors, nurses, and other health specialists in several countries where they provide their services. (Source: Prensa Latina)
