Cuba and Belarus evaluate political ties

Havana, Jun 7 (RHC)-- Cuba and Belarus evaluated l the progress of ties between both nations in the Political Consultations mechanism between their two foreign ministries.

Held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Havana and Minsk, the meeting was chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodriguez and her Belarusian counterpart Evgeny Shestakov.

According to the Foreign Ministry of the Caribbean nation, the meeting confirmed the interest in expanding and diversifying bilateral economic and trade relations and identified the main lines of work in areas of common interest.

During the meeting, follow-up was given to the agreements reached in the framework of the visit of the Cuban head of state, Miguel Díaz-Canel, to Belarus in October 2019, and the elements contained in the Joint Declaration signed by the respective leaders on that occasion ere addressed.

The willingness to maintain mutual collaboration in international forums, including the United Nations, was also ratified.

The representatives of the Caribbean nation reiterated their gratitude for Minsk's traditional support in confronting the blockade imposed by the United States. At the same time, the Belarusian side acknowledged the island's position of rejection of the destabilization attempts in the European country.
