China ratifies will of solidarity and cooperation with Cuba

Relations between Cuba and China

Beijing, Sept 20 (RHC) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed his country's willingness to deepen solidarity and cooperation with Cuba, ratifying that both countries are "good friends, comrades and brothers," official sources reported today.

 

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the chief diplomat made these statements during bilateral talks with his counterpart from the island, Bruno Rodriguez, at the beginning of his agenda at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN), on Monday.

 

Wang said the two socialist countries enjoy great trust in each other, close communication at the level of their heads of state and solid friendship.

 

He expressed Beijing's desire to further consolidate fraternal ties with Havana and thanked it for its stance of unconditional support in defending sovereignty, territorial integrity and other issues of importance to national interests.

 

Wang assured that China supports Cuba's efforts to accelerate development, protect its independence and make new achievements in the construction of socialism.

 

He advocated that the two territories advance in strategic articulation, further promote cooperation in the context of the Silk Road and Belt initiative, and expand exchanges in sectors such as agriculture, tourism and renewable energy, among others.

 

He also called for transforming high-level political trust into practical cooperation results, the official note added.

 

Apart from dialoguing with the Cuban minister, the Chinese diplomat also had meetings with the foreign ministers of Nicaragua, Ethiopia, France and Pakistan, reviewed the state of bilateral ties with these nations. He also analyzed issues of the international panorama.

 

Wang has been visiting the UN headquarters in New York since last Sunday to attend the 77th session of the General Assembly and will remain there until the 25th.

 

In addition to participating in the conclave, his agenda includes a meeting with friendly nations of an initiative of the Asian giant to promote global development.

 

Wang will hold meetings with his counterparts from the Brics group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), the quartet of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, and the troika of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

 

He will also meet with the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, the President of the General Assembly, Csaba Korosi, and leaders of other diplomatic missions.

 

The international conclave opened its 77th session last Tuesday and the high-level

debate will extend from the 20th to the 26th of this month. (Source:PL)
