President of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power

Havana, Oct. 11 (RHC) The president of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), Esteban Lazo, conveyed solidarity to the people of Venezuela after the landslide that occurred in Las Tejerías.

"We express our solidarity to the brother people, Government, and the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela given the landslide that occurred in Las Tejerías, as well as to the people close to the victims," the Cuban Legislative said through its Twitter account.

In the landslide caused by heavy rains in the locality of Las Tejerías, at least 36 people lost their lives and 56 are missing.

The overflowing of the rivers swept away houses and flooded the streets of the town, sweeping away everything that the water found in its path, stones, trees, and electrical and telephone installations.

Venezuela suffered intense rainfall throughout its northern strip for several days, as a result of a tropical wave, which later turned into a storm as it passed through the country. (Source: PL)
