Madrid, Nov 4 (RHC) Cuba has received numerous expressions of support and solidarity in Spain against the US blockade, due to a condemnatory resolution in the UN.

Different events and demonstrations in Spain, reported today by Prensa Latina, showed the joy, on the one hand, due to the resounding support for the Caribbean Island in the text approved in the United Nations General Assembly the day before by 185 votes in favor out of a possible 193 countries, with the United States and Israel against and two abstentions, Brazil and Ukraine.

They also called for the definitive end of Washington’s economic, financial and commercial siege, maintained for more than 60 years, considered the greatest obstacle to the development of the island.

In Madrid, on a rainy night, dozens of people called by the Movement of Solidarity with the Cuban Revolution of Madrid gathered in front of the US Embassy and shouted slogans repudiating the blockade, while celebrating a new victory at the UN, with the overwhelming support of the international community.

At the end of the rally, the demonstrators read a communiqué disqualifying the attitude of the White House in its attempts to bend the socialist model chosen by most Cubans, something which was repeated in other Spanish cities such as Valencia and Alicante.

Among other associations, the Valencian Association of Friendship with Cuba José Martí joined the international clamor shortly after the UN vote on the resolution ‘Need of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba’.
