Havana, November 14 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel held a meeting Monday with the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.

The meeting took place minutes before the official opening of the Havana International Fair 2022 (Fihav), which is being held at the Expocuba exhibition center in Havana.

A message on Twitter from the Presidency of the Republic states that the dignitary also talked with members of the UAE delegation, who are participating for the first time in the main commercial exchange of Cuba and the Caribbean.

Cuba and the UAE promote cooperation in sectors such as tourism, education, culture and communication, which received a boost during the 2020 World Expo, held in Dubai.

Cuba's pavilion at that event was visited by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.

In March this year, during another segment of that event, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed al Zeyoudi, spoke with Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Déborah Rivas, in a meeting in which they agreed on new actions to boost bilateral ties.
