Havana, Nov 15 (RHC) Cuba and China ratified the good state of economic and trade relations on the eve of the celebration of the Asian giant's National Day at the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2022).

Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of the largest of the Antilles, said that the new edition of the event, in the context of the tough economic situation the country is going through, acquires a special significance because it shows that the island is not alone.

He noted that Cuba recently participated in a fair in Shanghai, which allowed to continue promoting national export products and services, and will soon attend the China-Latin America and the Caribbean Business Summit, to be held in Ecuador.

He announced that on Thursday 17 will be the presentation of a Chinese e-commerce platform, which in less than a year of operation has allowed the sale of Cuban products such as rum and honey.

Ma Hui, the Chinese ambassador in Havana, stressed that FIHAV is one of the most recognized business fairs in Latin America and the Caribbean, and offered a warm welcome to companies from his country participating in the commercial exchange, he said that despite the distance, both States have a great friendship.

Economic and trade cooperation between the two nations has great potential, he said, while noting that in the last two years, with the tightening of the blockade and the effects of the pandemic, Chinese and Cuban companies have worked together in this regard.

The ceremony was also attended by Vicente de la O Levy, Minister of Energy and Mines; and Déborah Rivas Saavedra, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment.

The 38th Havana International Fair began on Monday at the Expocuba fairgrounds in Havana, with a representation of 62 countries (Source: PL).
