Havana, December 18 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated this Sunday higher education students, who are celebrating the 10th Congress of the Federation of University Students (FEU).

The event, which began its activities yesterday in Havana, culminates a process of debates and meetings developed during the last months in all centers of higher education in the country.

The congress, which will be in session until next Tuesday, seeks to strengthen the links of the student body with its organization by means of a strategy and communicational actions so that the membership feels more identified with its postulates.

Likewise, in the debates they will promote a greater participation of students in science, technology and research with concrete contributions to the development of the country, to promote innovation from the universities, and that the FEU will help to achieve this same aspiration, especially at the disposal of the territories.

In the opinion of many delegates to the event, it is essential in the analysis to reinforce the defense of a university that responds more and more to the Cuban socialist project and for which Julio Antonio Mella, its founder and outstanding communist leader of the first decades of the 20th century, fought so hard.
