Secretary General of the Serbian-Cuban Friendship Association Belgrade, Zorica Dobrijevic

Belgrade, January 31 (RHC) The secretary general of the Serbian-Cuban Friendship Association Belgrade, Zorica Dobrijevic, today reiterated her condemnation of the U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade against the island and demanded its immediate lifting.

She affirmed that since its creation in 1995, the members of the Federation have been very active in solidarity with the island and its struggles.

We always remember our participation in the international campaign for the release of Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, and René González, the five Cuban heroes who were imprisoned in the United States, Zorica told Prensa Latina.

According to Dobrijevic, the association helps to disseminate the culture and reality of the Antillean nation as well as to promote friendship between Serbia and Cuba.

The Covid-19 pandemic limited our physical activities in support of Cuba, but we use videoconferences to keep us active and pay tribute to Fidel Castro, José Martí, and Ernesto Che Guevara, and to commemorate important dates, she said.

Last year, Zorica and her husband Sveto Dobrijevic, who presides over the organization, received the Friendship Medal and the seal for the 60th Anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), in recognition of their solidarity work.

Just a few days ago, the representative of the group and other members of the Belgrade Serbian-Cuban Friendship Association traveled to Seville, Spain, where they participated in an international meeting in support of the island convened by Europe for Cuba channel, a forum attended by more than 70 organizations.

Since its inception we have collaborated with Europe for Cuba, without missing a single program, she said, referring to the channel's broadcasts, on Sundays in Spanish and Wednesdays in Russian.

In her dialogue with Prensa Latina, Zorica Dobrijevic thanked the work of diplomat Gustavo Tristá, who completed his mission as Cuban ambassador to Serbia, and assured that they will maintain close ties with the new ambassador, Leyde Ernesto Rodríguez.  (Source: PL)
