Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez strongly condemned growing inequalities affecting the entire world

Havana, Feb 1 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez strongly condemned growing inequalities affecting the entire world as well as poverty hitting millions of people worldwide.

On Twitter, the Cuban foreign minister appealed to data provided by the Oxfam non-governmental organization, unveiling that “since 2020, for every dollar earned by a person in the world´s 90% poorest, a billionaire pockets 7 million”, while adding “the wealth received by the 1% richest in the world is 74 times greater than that received by the 50% poorest in the last 10 years.”

Such a situation has also been criticized by a great number of international organizations and bodies, warning of worsening inequalities even more during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Contrary to what might be expected, when the Covid-19 pandemic forced most of the world economy to stop thus throwing hundreds of millions of people into poverty, not a few families controlling major resources and industries in many countries multiplied their wealth. (Prensa Latina)
