Havana, Feb 22 (RHC) The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday congratulated the people and Government of Saint Lucia on the occasion on the 44th anniversary of their independence.

On its Twitter account, the Cuban Foreign Ministry ratified the will to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation that unite both nations.

Saint Lucia celebrates its National Holiday with 15 official events in which people in the country and the diaspora participate.

Under the slogan “Douvan Ansanm, one people, forging our destiny,” the initiatives seek to accentuate national pride, as well as foster camaraderie among citizens, according to the organizers.

Relations between Cuba and Saint Lucia are based on respect, solidarity, and mutual support. They also maintain close collaborative ties, which are expressed in permanent high-level contacts.

More than 100 Cuban healthcare specialists went to that neighboring nation to support the fight against Covid-19, while cooperation, in general, has allowed the training of young Saint Lucians as doctors in Cuba.

Saint Lucia maintains a consistent and repeated position of rejection of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, despite the majority of international rejection at the United Nations General Assembly. (Source: PL)
