Cuba congratulates Uganda on the anniversary of its independence

Havana, Oct 9 (RHC) The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs today congratulated the people and Government of Uganda, on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the independence of that African nation.

Through a message on X, the ministry ratified the will to continue the friendly and historic diplomatic relations based on respect and mutual support.

On September 14, the vice presidents of Cuba, Salvador Valdés, and of Uganda, Jessica Alupo, inaugurated the new Ugandan diplomatic headquarters in Havana, in the context of the G77 Summit held in Havana. During that day, both countries signed collaboration agreements in politics, agriculture, health and research.

Cuba and Uganda cooperate in various areas, including the training of health personnel at the Mbarara University of Science and Technology, at the initiative of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni.

Kampala and Havana support each other in international forums through the Non-Aligned Movement, the Group of 77 and in the United Nations to defend and protect their interests and strategic political and economic partnerships. (Source: PL)
