World Water Day

Havana, March 22 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel called on Twitter today to care for and protect water, on the occasion of the World Water Day.

Every year since 1993, World Water Day raises awareness and inspires action to address the sanitation and crisis internationally, as 2 billion people still live without access to safe drinking water, according to United Nations data.

The entity details that the problems found throughout the vital liquid cycle are undermining progress in the main planetary conflicts: from health to hunger, from gender equality to jobs, through education, the industry, natural disasters and lack of peace.

The latest numbers show that governments need to work an average of four times faster to have safe water for everyone by 2030, but this is not an aspiration that can be solved by just one actor or group.

In this sense, the global campaign "Be the change" is promoted, which encourages people to take action in their own lives to change the way they use, consume and manage water. (Source: Prensa Latina)
