Solidarity organization greets Nicaragua-Cuba Friendship Day

Havana, April 17 (RHC) - The Nicaraguan Anti-Imperialist Network of Solidarity with the Peoples greeted Nicaragua-Cuba Friendship Day through a statement today and described it as indestructible.

Made up of more than 15 organizations, the network expressed its commitment to always be active in solidarity and to promote friendship between Nicaragua and Cuba.

The text recalled the Nicaraguan pilot Carlos Ulloa, who fell in defense of the Cuban Revolution on the sands of Playa Girón on April 17, 1961, when the island was invaded by mercenaries at the service of the United States Government. It also condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington on Havana for more than 60 years, a measure that they described as criminal.

The document pointed out that a crucial part of the blockade is to demoralize Cuba and criminalize its work, for which reason it is arbitrarily included in the list of countries that sponsor terrorism.

In May 2019, the National Assembly promulgated in Managua the law that establishes April 17 as Friendship Day between the Republics of Cuba and Nicaragua, in tribute to the combatant Carlos Ulloa. (Source: Prensa Latina)
