Havana, July 22 (RHC)-- After two days of intense debates by the deputies, today concludes, according to the schedule, the First Ordinary Period of Sessions of the 10th Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP).

On Friday, in the presence of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, Leader of the Cuban Revolution, and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the deputies analyzed the deficiencies in the progress towards food sovereignty and price control.

In approving the agreement that regulates the link of deputies with the voters of the territory where they were elected, in order to enforce the responsibility of the close relationship that arises from the deputy with the people, the member of the Political Bureau, Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the ANPP, pointed out that it is a system that is not only based on the visit of each parliamentarian, but on the permanent link with their constituents.

He emphasized the importance of the deputy playing a guiding role, while also collecting opinions and proposals from the population that elected him/her, on how to approach certain problems, and establishing a dialogue with the people.

On the other hand, the Vice Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca presented the report on the implementation of the Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security Law, and promoted the debate on the objective conditions and other deficiencies that hinder the full progress towards its objectives, and which require an urgent revolution in food production.

In another point, the Minister of Finance and Prices, Vladimir Regueiro Ale, highlighted that the consumer price index, at the end of the year 2022, registered a growth of 39 %; therefore, "we are committed and aware of the reality that we must revert".

This Saturday, the deputies will analyze the current situation and prospects of the national energy system, as well as the behavior of the economy in the first semester of the year 2023, and the liquidation of the 2022 Budget.

They will also approve the agencies and provincial governments that will render accounts in December before the ANPP, and those that will be subject to high auditing; in addition to ratifying the agreements and decree-laws approved by the Council of State. (Source: Granma)
