Puerto Rican solidarity brigade highlighted medical work in Cuba

Havana, Jul 29 (RHC) Members of the 32nd Juan Rius Rivera brigade of Puerto Rico today highlighted the progress of the public health sector in the Cuban central province of Camagüey, despite the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

The brigade members visited various health centers in the region, where they learned about innovative biotechnology products on the island, and the use of techniques such as acupuncture, phytotherapy and homeopathy.

One of the destinations for the visitors was the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Provincial Pediatric Hospital, where they verified the facility's efforts to ensure the hemodialysis service, surgical interventions, and surveillance of alarm signs in patients with dengue.

The coordinator of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba in Puerto Rico, Milagros Rivera, pointed out that health is one of the most important achievements of the Revolution and highlighted the work carried out by professionals in the field.

She commented that on the Brigade's next trip they will talk with the people about the work they do as a solidarity movement, and the difficulties imposed by the blockade and how many barriers they must overcome to shake hands with Cuba.

Since last July 13, the 32nd Juan Rius Rivera Brigade of Puerto Rico has been carrying out an extensive program in Cuba that included meetings with the authorities of the territories, visits to medical centers, they participated in a solidarity meeting and in the central act for the Day of the National Rebellion.
