Havana, July 31 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel praised on Monday the legacy of the exalted restaurateur and historian of Havana, Eusebio Leal Spengler (1942- 2020), on the third anniversary of his death.

In his Twitter account, the dignitary expressed what it means for Cubans and, especially, the capital's citizens to preserve the cultural heritage left by the intellectual.

"The challenge remains to maintain his work and develop it, with the same passion for beauty with which he did it all. That is to be loyal to Leal," said the head of state in that social network.

Notable for his sapience and lofty verb to describe the Havana of his sleepless nights, Leal stamped his own seal on the restoration work of the Historic Center, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1982.

His extensive biography reveals multiple decorations, orders and awards that he deserved inside and outside Cuba.
