Cuba replaces ministers in several portfolios

Havana, February 2 (RHC)-- The Cuban Council of State, at the proposal of the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and prior approval of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, reported on Friday of several movements of cadres in portfolios of great economic impact.

Alejandro Gil Fernández will be released from his responsibilities as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning, and replaced by the designation of the current Minister President of the Central Bank of Cuba (BCC), Joaquín Alonso Vázquez, as head of that portfolio.

The official note detailed that Alonso Vázquez, 60 years old, has a degree in Finance and Credit and a master's degree in Business Management and Administration, in addition, he has a wide management experience.

The position of Minister President of the BCC will be held by Juana Lilia Delgado, a graduate in International Economic Relations, who has held different responsibilities in that institution.

Likewise, the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez, who has held this position for more than 11 years, will be released for renewal.  In her place, the current president of the BioCubaFarma Business Group, Eduardo Martínez, a biology graduate and deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power, will occupy that position.

The head of the Food Industry, Manuel Santiago Sobrino, will also be released for renewal, and the current governor of the central province of Villa Clara, Alberto López, will occupy that position.

All the comrades released from their respective positions were recognized for their effort and dedication in the performance of such high responsibilities and in the next few days they will be given new assignments.  (Source: Prensa Latina)
