Havana, February 15 (RHC) --The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, continued on Thursday touring the western province of Pinar del Río.
The municipality of Consolación del Sur is the destination of the head of state in the journey, which aims to visit places that do not achieve good productive results and help solve the problems, reported the Presidency, in its profile on the social network X.
Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, secretary of Organization of the CC-PCC, and local authorities, Díaz-Canel began his agenda at the 'Camilo Cienfuegos' Genetic Livestock Enterprise, which closed 2023 with 50 million pesos in losses.
The inefficient management of cattle and the insufficient sowing of protein plants were criticized by the dignitary in that entity, in which five of the seven units have losses, their productions do not exceed three liters of milk per cow, and at the end of last January their plan remained at 87 percent.
In a dialogue with workers and managers, the President emphasized that if the country is to move forward, this inertia cannot continue.
He referred to the difficult situation with the importation of powdered milk, for which solutions are being sought, "but we must produce more," he emphasized.
The top leadership of the PCC also visited the 'José Hernández León' Credit and Service Cooperative, which with 263 members dedicates its 1,200 hectares to various crops.
In 2023 they did not fulfill their contracts, and the salaries of their workers do not reach 4 thousand pesos.The source adds that the tour also included a visit to the "Mártires del Moncada" Polytechnic Center, with an enrollment of 343 students and its teaching coverage covered one hundred percent.
Díaz-Canel was interested in school retention and the demand for labor force in the municipality. He spoke with teachers and students, insisted on providing students with a comprehensive general culture, a good preparation in languages, and that each one finds motivation in the position they are given at the end of their studies.
There he learned about the favorable impact that the increase in income approved in Education has had, which has allowed many teachers to rejoin the sector. The teachers thanked the Revolution for this measure and the differentiated attention.
