Caracas, April 25 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel reaffirmed this Wednesday his country's commitment to unity, the defense of sovereignty and peace, during his speech at the XXIII ALBA-TCP Summit in the Venezuelan capital.

Díaz-Canel warned that imperialism persists in its project of domination "over our lands, finances and promotes violence, destabilization and hate speech."   The president called for respect and compliance with the postulates of the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.

"That the region continues to be internationally recognized for its commitment to regional peace and stability is a matter of utmost importance for the present and future of the people," he stressed.

At another point in his speech, the Cuban head of state congratulated the Venezuelan people for the development of the new electoral process in a climate of peace and in accordance with its constitution, while expressing his rejection of external interference and impositions that seek to influence in the functioning of the institutions of the Bolivarian Republic.

Díaz-Canel also reiterated the strongest condemnation of the violent invasion of the Ecuadorian police into the Mexican diplomatic headquarters in Quito.

He recognized the "Nicaraguan brothers who resist the media siege, and the interventionist attempts of imperialism to break their constitutional order," as well as expressed his support and support for Bolivia in the defense of its sovereignty.

He indicated that the international community owes a great debt to the Haitian people, who were subjected to reprehensible punishment by imperial powers.  Haiti needs assistance and cooperation for development, said the Cuban president, who recalled that his country has offered the people of that Caribbean nation fraternal and selfless cooperation and even in the current circumstances maintains a medical brigade there that provides services.

The Cuban leader also expressed his support for the independence of the Puerto Rican people and expressed his solidarity with the Argentinian people, while ensuring that the Caribbean will always find in ALBA an ally in the defense of its interests.

Miguel Diaz-Canel appreciated the support of the integration mechanism in the fight for the end of the United States government blockade against the Cuban people and the exclusion of the island from the unilateral list of countries that sponsor terrorism.

He stated that Cuba will continue its fight until Washington lifts the economic, commercial and financial blockade, a policy that he described as cruel, immoral and unjustifiable.

The Cuban president asserted that his country deserves to live in peace, and under equal conditions to demonstrate everything that he would be capable of advancing and building in socialism.

Our commitment to integration and unity is invariable, stressed the head of state, who expressed his country's will to work tirelessly for an ALBA-TCP of victories, peace, unity, solidarity and cooperation.
