Cuban president talks with Algerian authorities on technical stopover

Havana, May 10 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, spoke this Thursday, in Algeria, with the head of the National Popular Assembly, Brahim Bougali.

The exchange occurred when the Cuban leader made a technical stopover in Algiers, the capital of the North African country, upon his return from Moscow, where he was on a working visit.

A Cuban television report indicates that, at approximately 11:00 p.m. local time in Algeria, the Cubana de Aviación IL-96 carrying the president and his entourage landed at the 'Houari Boumedienne' international airport.

The Cuban ambassador Héctor Igarza, and the Algerian Minister of Health, and co-president of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, Abdelhaid Saigi, also participated in the meeting at the air terminal.

The note states that the parties discussed the state of bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest. (Source: Prensa Latina)
