On the steps of the University of Havana

Havana, June 5 (RHC)-- A number of meetings with university students have been held in recent days at various higher education centers across the country to address concerns about the new measures adopted by the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA).

Meyvis Estévez Echeverría, first secretary of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists, described the exchange with university students on the social network X as beneficial, while reaffirming that nothing will defeat youth, as the pillar of the country.

"We repudiate any attempt at manipulation that seeks to divide us. These days have been intense days of dialogue with our students, specifically at the University of Havana, a historic space for thought and Revolution," the leader expressed.

She highlighted the strength and commitment of young people to the Revolution.  “The unity of young people with their Revolution is unbreakable, and together we will defend the achievements that belong to us. The University, faithful to its tradition, will continue to be a home of critical thought, but also a bastion of Cuba's sovereignty,” she added in her posts.

Regarding the actions being carried out at the University of Havana, Miriam Nicado García, the university's rector, highlighted the conversation with professors and students on her Facebook page.

She stated that she has held conversations with a group of students and professors from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the university approaching its tricentennial.

“A meeting between revolutionaries, we will continue the dialogue,” she concluded.

Since ETECSA implemented new mobile service measures on May 30th, government representatives, national organizations, and company members have maintained constant contact with the population to explain the details and jointly develop strategies for its improvement.
