Paris, June 10 (RHC)-- The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Inés María Chapman, leading the Cuban delegation to the Third United Nations Conference on the Oceans, held a meeting this Tuesday in Nice, France, with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The two discussed Cuba's potential for cooperation with that international organization, primarily in the areas of food production, nuclear medicine, and environmental protection.

During the meeting, Grossi acknowledged the work carried out by the largest island in the Antilles in the peaceful use of nuclear energy in institutions such as the Center for Environmental Studies in the south-central province of Cienfuegos.

He expressed his willingness to continue the dialogue on this new phase with the Cuban authorities in upcoming meetings.

Chapman presented the IAEA Director General with a book on the state of Cuba's coral reefs, which is one of the areas of focus of the cooperation agreed upon with this international organization.
