Santo Domingo, June 15 (RHC)-- The Seventh Meeting of Cubans Residing in Latin American and Caribbean countries concluded this Sunday in the Dominican Republic with a protest against the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade.
Delegates from 13 nations, members of the Dominican Solidarity Campaign, and other friends of Cuba raised their voices before the monument to the hero Francisco Caamaño, in the colonial zone, to denounce that country's inclusion on Washington's unilateral list of state sponsors of terrorism.
On the occasion, the president of the "Máximo Gómez" Association of Cubans Residing in the Dominican Republic, Enrique Portuondo, expressed the commitment of their fellow citizens to the defense of the homeland, Cuban identity, truth, and unity.
In the event's Final Declaration, read by Humberto Pérez, president of the Network of Cubans Residing in Latin America and the Caribbean, the participants expressed their solidarity, commitment, and willingness to contribute to the necessary actions to enhance exchanges that strengthen unity among their fellow citizens.
They also expressed their gratitude for the support of the solidarity movements with Cuba and agreed to enhance the use of social media and other media outlets in defense of the homeland and in disseminating the truth about its history, reality, and cultural values.
The text expresses the decision to maintain support for just causes, the fight against fascism and similar tendencies, based on the incorporation of their respective associations into the chapters of the Anti-Fascist International.
At the same time, they maintained their identity and respect for the politics of the Revolution and its historical figures, united in the brotherhood that these times demand, fully identifying with the concept that the homeland, they said, is all of us.
For her part, the Director General of Consular Affairs and Assistance to Cubans Living Abroad, Ana Teresita González, reiterated the Cuban government's willingness to listen to the proposals of its compatriots. Joining them at this event is another example of this intention to perfect the path undertaken to be increasingly united, she stated.
The official acknowledged everyone for the donations sent to the country during difficult times, aware of the sacrifice these contributions to the Cuban people represent for many.
