Havana, June 27 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, reaffirmed this Thursday in Minsk, capital of the Republic of Belarus, his willingness to advance cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Speaking at the Plenary Session of the IV Eurasian Economic Forum, the president affirmed that the Cuban business delegation present at the meeting, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, represents the desire to strengthen economic, commercial, and financial ties with the EAEU and its members and observers.
“The Cuban companies that represent us here, despite the ironclad blockade by our powerful neighbor (the United States), today offer a variety of options for their exportable products and investment opportunities, along with the benefits of our legislation and our market,” the president stated, according to posts by the Presidency on the social media platform X.
The Cuban head of state affirmed that Cuba is open to deepening exchanges in key sectors such as biopharmaceuticals, agriculture, sugar agroindustry, light industry, steel and mechanical engineering and chemistry, transportation, construction, communications, energy, tourism, health, education, and sports.
“The cooperation we achieve should lead us to complementary mechanisms that foster sustained and mutually beneficial growth,” he emphasized.
Díaz-Canel, who is currently on an official visit to the Republic of Belarus (Belarus) until tomorrow, emphasized the efforts to build a common space for development and integration, based on more just and equitable economic relations.
Belarus holds the pro tempore presidency of the Eurasian Economic Union, an integration mechanism that also includes Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia, and in which Cuba, Iran, and Uzbekistan are observer countries.
The Economic Forum precedes the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council tomorrow, Friday, and is consolidating its position as an essential platform for business exchange within the Union's integration space.
