Santa Clara, July 24 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, said this Thursday in the central city of Santa Clara that on August 13th, a call will be issued to commemorate the centennial of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro (1926-2016), not only to discuss his legacy, but also to bring it to the present.

In the conclusions of his visit to Villa Clara, the president emphasized that there are many things in that province that Fidel founded.  "Recovering them and bringing them to the present is the best tribute," he stated.

“We are not going to give up here.  We are going to overcome the blockade, even if they continue to intensify it. But we must overcome it with thought, intelligence, and work,” Díaz-Canel emphasized.

The Cuban president stated that it is essential to strengthen local productive systems so that income covers social expenses.  “The municipality of Ranchuelo, for example, has a large agricultural area that can contribute to food sovereignty. There are good experiences. If there is more agricultural production, the gastronomic offering and retail circulation improve,” he explained.

Diaz-Canel praised the experience of young paint producer Kelvin Alonso and prominent cattle rancher Narciso Ramón Ramírez, who in six months has managed to triple his herd without calving mortality.

The first secretary of the PCC in Villa Clara, Susely Morfa, discussed the work projections for the second half of 2025.  “Prioritized attention to young people, ties with youth, visits to historical sites and places where Fidel Castro visited, and a program of values centered on Commander Ernesto Che Guevara are very important goals for the people of Villa Clara,” she said.

She added that it is necessary to reduce the number of loss-making companies and project a reduction in the fiscal deficit in all municipalities.

During his tour of Villa Clara, Díaz-Canel was accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the PCC Central Committee.
