Ciego de Avila, July 25 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, attended the political and cultural gala this Friday on the eve of National Rebellion Day, held at the Teatro Principal in the city of Ciego de Ávila.

The coliseum reopened its doors to the public almost 100 years after its founding, to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, as well as the awarding to the province, for the fourth time, of hosting the central activities for the July 26 anniversary.

The performance was attended by members of the PCC Political Bureau, Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic, and Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization, as well as the Heroes of the Republic of Cuba, Fernando González Llort, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, and Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), among other political and government officials.

The evening, which evoked the epic poem, featured performances by the contemporary dance company Yu Dance; the vocal group Corávila; the Septeto Awua Brava; and the Grupo Telón Abierto, among others.
