Havana, July 26 (RHC)-- Thirteen suitcases, containing 300 kilograms of medicines and medical supplies, were donated by the Barcelona Nou Barris Solidarity Brigade to the Calixto García General University Hospital, through the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR).

One of the Cuban Five and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and National Coordinator of the CDRs, emphasized that the delivery of the donation is a demonstration of the Nou Barris Brigade's unwavering commitment to the Cuban people.

She highlighted the Barcelona Brigade's 30-year history of supporting Cuba, with its constant presence and sustained assistance despite threats and criticism from detractors of the Revolution.

Since its founding in November 1994, the Nou Barris Sisterhood Association, led by Maruja Ruiz Martos along with her family and friends in Barcelona, the brigade has forged deep ties with the CDRs and Cuban communities.

They have brought approximately 650 Spaniards to the island, traveling uninterruptedly each year, except for the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the borders were opened. It was the first brigade to visit the country.

Maruja Ruiz Martos remembers all those who have made solidarity with Cuba possible over the years, especially her late husband, Nando, a promoter and driving force behind solidarity with Cuba.

During their visits to Cuba, they visit various locations, meet with people at the CDRs (Responsible Development Committees), and ensure direct contact with the population to whom they deliver their contributions.
