Cuba reiterates its backing for the Palestinian cause at the United Nations

Havana, Jul 29 (RHC) Cuba is taking part in the United Nations High-level International Conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, which resumed on Monday in New York.

The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed on its website that the island reaffirmed its long-standing stance of solidarity with the Palestinian people, who have been deprived of their right to self-determination for nearly eight decades.

In this context, Cuba advocates for a lasting, equitable, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, in accordance with international resolutions that uphold the Palestinian cause.

The Conference, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of France and Saudi Arabia, is also attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, and senior officials from the General Assembly.

The organization of this conference, scheduled to conclude on July 30, was mandated by the UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/79/81, adopted in December 2024.

However, its implementation was delayed due to the escalating tensions in the region following Israel's attacks on Iran, in violation of international law. (Source: ACN)
