Japan Premier's Wife Attends Women's Day Event at Cuban Embassy

Tokyo, March 9 (RHC-PL)-- Akie Abe, wife of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, attended an event organized by the Cuban embassy in Tokyo on occasion of International Women's Day, Prensa Latina news agency reported Sunday.

According to a press release quoted by PL, the wife of the Prime Minister was accompanied by Japanese designer Junko Koshino, whose study served as venue for the celebration.

Akie Abe, who received a bouquet of flowers from Cuban Ambassador Marcos Rodriguez, expressed her appreciation for the invitation and congratulated women attending the activity.

Designer Koshino made a presentation of her professional work carried out in that nation with Cuban models. The meeting ended with the performance of two Japanese singers who sang classic opera songs, and a Cuban musical quartet that closed the event with lively Cuban rhythms.

Among the Japanese participants were the wife of the Parliamentary Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the general director of the Economic Department at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and other prominent women from many sectors of Japanese society.

Female ambassadors, and the spouses of ambassadors from Latin American and other countries also attended the activity in Tokyo.
