Raul Castro Meets European Union Chief Diplomat

Havana, Mar 25, (RHC), – Cuban President Raul Castro met on Tuesday with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and vice-president of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini.

In a cordial atmosphere, the talks focused on current links between the European Union and Cuba. Mogherini and Raul Castro agreed to the interest of developing bilateral relations based on mutual respect, and on the objectives and principles of the UN Charter. They also addressed international issues of common interest, Granma newspaper reported.

Mogherini was accompanied by Cabinet chief Stefano Manservisi and Cuban ambassador to the European Union Hernan Portocarrero. Also attending the meeting was foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez and deputy foreign minister Rogelio Sierra.
