Washington, April 13, (RHC), – US Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro is applauding the U.S. State Department’s reported recommendation to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

Last week, the US State Department reportedly recommended US President Barack Obama to scrap Cuba off the blacklist, adding that it had found no grounds for Havana's branding as a sponsor of terrorism.

“The real cost and consequence of keeping Cuba on the list, given that the State Department has found no evidence that Cuba sponsors terrorists, is our credibility and leadership internationally,” DeLauro said.

DeLauro has been a longtime proponent of ending US economic sanctions against Cuba, and has visited the Caribbean island nation many times. She is a member of the bipartisan Cuban Working Group.
