Havana, October 4 (RHC)-- Cuba’s Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya reaffirmed her country’s commitment to promoting innovation and creativity through the intellectual property system.

The Minister is attending the 2019 Assemblies of Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The Cuban minister described the meeting as a very good experience in which Cuba has been participating for many years.

"This, however, is particularly special, since Cuba has approved an intellectual property policy --an important legal body to update and manage the relationship between different fields of science."

The minister further said that at the meeting, the island's delegation is showing the results of Cuba's work in industrial property in sectors like biotechnology, the industry and commerce. She added that the delegation is also showing the results thus far in the work of the emerging non-state sector, which entails a different type of financial and economic management activity, in which intellectual property support is very important.

She added that next year, the country will participate with a stand to show its results over the past years in the field of industrial property and intellectual property.
