Havana, March 5 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted the legacy of Bolivarian leader Hugo Chávez, on the 8th anniversary of his death.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, Diaz-Canel said March 5th is a date to remember and pay homage to the unforgettable Hugo Chavez, ‘Cuba’s best friend’ as Revolution leader Fidel Castro called him.

‘Chavez devoted his energies to realizing Bolivar’s dream of unity. He faced huge challenges with admirable optimism. Hugo Chavez will forever be a source of inspiration for revolutionaries around the world,’ Diaz-Canel said.

Meanwhile, the Casa del ALBA pays homage to Hugo Chavez with a broad program of actions.

The Havana-based cultural institution released on its social media profiles an audiovisual material entitled ‘Chavez sculptures in Latin America and the Caribbean’ by artist Andrés González. It is about emblematic sculptures inspired by the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, though using different materials and aesthetic concepts.

On Friday, several audiovisuals about Hugo Chavez, his tireless efforts toward Latin American and Caribbean integration and his indestructible legacy of anti-imperialist struggle and resistance were streamed on social media, with support from the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Cuba.
