Enrique Bonne & Jonny Ventura collaborate in album by Magic Sax

Santiago de Cuba, May 5 (RHC)-- National Music Prize laureate Enrique Bonne and Dominican singer Johnny Ventura collaborate in a new album of Magic Sax, a sax quartet based in eastern Santiago de Cuba.

In statements to Prensa Latina news agency, Juan Chacón, leader of Magic Sax, said the new album entitled ‘Imprescindibles’ includes the track ‘Perdone usted’, written by Bonne and performed by Ventura.

Chacón said the title of the album signals an interest in including tunes that best reflect the vast musical legacy of all-time great Cuban composers like Chucho Valdés, Juan Almeida, Juan Formell and César Pedroso, among others.

The leader of Magic Sax noted that maestro Bonne will turn 95 next June 15th. He added that this is his birthday present Bonne and that the Dominican singer was exited and honored to record a tune authored by the musician from Santiago de Cuba.

In 2015, Jonny Ventura performed at Teatro Heredia in Santiago de Cuba, along with singer Maridalia Hernández and La Gallera orchestra, in the framework of the 35th Caribbean Festival.

The album ‘Imprescindibles’ of sax quartet Magic Sax, with Bis Music label, was produced by musician Manolito Simonet and saxophonist Germán Velasco.

Created in 1995 by sax virtuosos, Magic Sax has toured extensively around the world, particularly in Europe and Latin America.
