Havana, May 10 (RHC)-- Cuban singer Beatriz Márquez is nominated to the 2020-2021 Cubadisco awards in the category of archive music for her latest album ‘Beatriz inédita’ released under EGREM label.

It includes 18 tracks, popular tunes by such renowned Cuban authors as Hilario Durán, David Calzado, Juan Almeida, Silvio Rodríguez, Omar Hernández, Juan Formell, Rolando Vergara, Josefa Caviedes, Demetrio Muñiz, among others. The songs were popularized by Beatriz Márquez between 1970 and 1990 but were never compiled in a vinyl record.

The top event of the Cuban Music Industry will take place May 15th through the 23rd on social media.

In statements to Cuban press, Jorge Gómez, president of Cubadisco, said amidst the Covid-19, Cuban musicians have overcome the challenges posed by the necessary social distancing, the impossibility of holding live, in-person concerts and presentations and they have resorted to social media to promote their work, reaching out to new, larger audiences and gaining ever more followers in Cuba as well as abroad.

During the Cubadisco Festival, Canal Clave of Cuban television will be the main stage of concerts, debates, and the screening of documentaries and other audiovisual materials on the work of Cuban musicians.
