Exhibition Martí, the Gold of the Age

Havana, January 28 (RHC)-- The collective exhibition Martí, the Golden Age was inaugurated Friday at the Collage Habana gallery, in this capital, in tribute to the 170th anniversary of the birth of Cuba's National Hero, José Martí.

The show will feature the work of more than 15 Cuban artists, among them Aluan Argüelles, Alicia Leal, Juan Alcayde, Manuel Almenares, Lancelot Alonso, Liesther Amador, Yasiel Elizagaray, Rolo Fernandez, Yudel Francisco, Denis Izquierdo, Manuel Lopez, Jose Oliva, Adrian Socorro, Reineiro Tamayo and Wendy Perez.

From the diverse languages of contemporary art such as painting, photography, installation, sculpture and video art, these creators interpreted the discourses on the Apostle to show him as a normal man, according to curator Abram Bravo.

The exhibition, open to the public until March, combines the talent of artists from different generations, who captured in the pieces the result of a process of search and assimilation of the figure of the fighter for Cuba's independence.

Martí: The Golden Age, proposes an approach to the image of the poet and writer, while "trying to desacralize the heroic and apostolic figure of Martí, show him more human and contextualize him in the present time", through a contemporary vision and diverse aesthetics, said the presentation of the project.
