The 38th edition of the Vuelta Ciclística a Ecuador concludes today.

Havana, December 15 (RHC)-- The 38th edition of the Vuelta Ciclística a Ecuador will conclude today. The competition, with category 2.2 of the International Cycling Union (UCI), gathers 120 riders from 14 teams, 12 of them national.

On the closing day, the eighth stage of the competition, which began last December 8 in the coastal city of Guayaquil and after covering several stages on the coast ends at high altitude.

To date, the athlete from the province of Imbabura, Steven Haro, from Movistar Team Ecuador, is the leader in the classification table.

Among the outstanding athletes in the competition are the Canadian Jean-Michel Lachance, winner of the initial stage, the American Matt Govero, who won the second stage and the Ecuadorians Sebastián Novoa, Santiago Montenegro, Lenin Montenegro, Steven Haro and Diego Montalvo, winners of the remaining stages in that order.

The Vuelta al Ecuador awards points for the UCI America Tour and the UCI World Ranking.
