The 38th Vuelta Ciclística a Ecuador gets underway

Havana, December 8 (RHC)-- More than a dozen cities will be part of the XXXVIII Vuelta Ciclística a Ecuador, which starts today in the port city of Guayaquil with 120 competitors.

The competition, which will last until December 15, was presented in the auditorium of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee, where the athletes underwent PCR tests to rule out Covid-19 infection.

A total of 14 teams will participate in the competition, 12 of them national, one continental and one international, representing the United States.

The start will be in the central Malecon 2000 in Guayaquil and the closing stage will culminate in the Ciudad Mitad del Mundo, in the capital.

The event was organized by the Ecuadorian Cycling Federation and the Concentración Deportiva Pichincha, with the support of the Ministry of Sports.

The event includes a route of 1,218 kilometers to be covered in eight stages through cities such as Salinas, Manta, Quevedo, Santo Domingo, Sangolquí, Ibarra, Tulcán and Cayambe. The Vuelta a Ecuador 2021 has category 2.2 in the International Cycling Union and closes the America Tour calendar of 2021.
