Havana, February 4 (RHC)-- Cuban Leyanis Perez won the triple jump title this Friday at the Miramas elite indoor athletics meeting in France.

In what was a great debut in the current winter tour, the gold medalist in the I Pan American Junior Games in Cali, Colombia, concluded last December, won in an unobjectionable way with a good mark of 14.47 meters (m), 30 centimeters ahead of Portugal's Patricia Mamona (14.17 m), occupying the second place.

If this record is approved, Perez would be third in the world list, only surpassed by Thea Lafond (14.62 m), from Dominica, and the American Jasmine Moore (14.55 m).

As for what happened in Miramas, the leading trio was completed by Spain's Ana Peleteiro (14.15 m), owner of the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games; while the other triathlete from Cuba, Liadagmis Povea (13.79 m), finished in sixth place, according to the official website of World Athletics.

Both Cubans will compete again on French soil next 9th in the city of Marseille, to continue "warming up" in the indoor season.

In the case of Leyanis, she leads the ranking of that modality for under 20 years old with a national record of 14.53 m, and although last year she qualified for the five rings in the Japanese capital, she could not attend due to an injury.
