Havana, February 10 (RHC/JIT) -- Cuba's Jasiel Rivero contributed on Wednesday in Valencia Basket's ninth win to secure a place in the round of 16 of the Eurocup basketball tournament.

In a game without many demands, Rivero scored seven points to contribute to the 88-73 victory over Virtus Segafredo Bologna of Italy, duel corresponding to the 13th day of the group B.

The Cuban was only on the court for 18:41 minutes at La Fonteta, where the local winners managed the quarters. After winning the first quarter 24-17 and losing the following ones 16-21 and 12-25, they had a dominant closing 31-14.

In a distributed work, the Havana power forward had an impact on the dominance of rebounds for the Taronjas by capturing eight of the total of 47, while the rivals only took 33.

With this result, the team led by Joan Peñarroya has a balance of 9-4 to stay second in the group. With only five of the 18 rounds remaining, they have already qualified among the eight teams for the next phase.

The format of the competition foresees the stage between the best 16 from April 19 with direct elimination clashes between the two sections.

In other words, should Valencia finish second, they would then meet the seventh-placed team in A, now occupied by Turk Telecom Ankara (6-5) from Turkey.

The quarterfinals will take place on the 26th and 27th of that month, while the semifinals will be held on May 3 and 4 and the title match on the following 11th.
