Arlenis Sierra with Movistar

Havana, June 30 (ACN)-- After extending her dynasty in the Pan American Championships on May 15 in Argentina, Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra returns to the road this Thursday, starting one of the main road races in the world -- the Giro d'Italia.

Movistar Team announced that the 29-year-old rider from Manzanillo will be part of its line-up to dominate the 10-day, 1,004-kilometer classic.

The big moment of the 2022 season for Movistar Team's women's team begins with the first of the three "Grand Tours", a Giro Donne that opens an intense period of 18 days of competition in just one month - including the Tour de France Femmes -, the blue squad announced on its official website.

The Italian race will feature "leg-breaking" challenges, as well as stages to enhance speed and climbing.

Sierra last competed in San Juan, Argentina, where she won the main event of the Pan American Road Cycling Championships on May 15, just after leading from start to finish the Vuelta a Andalucía and starring in successes in Belgium and Holland in her first campaign with the famed Movistar Team.
