Havana, October 31 (RHC)-- Cuban competitors are already at the venue of the Pan American Table Tennis Championship, which will be held from Monday until November 6 in Santiago de Chile.

According to the program on the ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) Americas website, Daniela Fonseca, Idalys Lovet, Karla Pérez, Lizdainet Rodríguez, Eday Gómez, Jorge Campos and Liván Martínez will play in the individual event.

Fonseca and Lovet will also compete as a female duo and Campos and Martinez as a male duo.

Olympians Fonseca and Campos will participate in the mixed pairs (one athlete of each sex), as well as Lovet and Martinez.

Cuba will also compete in the men's and women's team competitions at the Olympic Training Center of Chile, which will host the main figures of the Americas in the most important table tennis event in the continental calendar.

According to Jit, an institutional publication of Cuban sports, Andy Pereira, already a historical referent of this sport in Cuba, could not obtain a visa to travel to Chile from Germany, where he has a contract with his club, a situation that could affect the Cubans in the team event.

The competition is a qualifier for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile and the individual tournament of the 2023 World Championship.
