Mexico City, November 11 (PL)-- The Cuban national team will seek today in the Mexican capital its first two victories in the Super Round of the Baseball World Cup Five Mexico 2022, when it faces Tunisia and Venezuela.

On Thursday, the Cubans reached their fifth victory without the shadow of a setback by defeating Japan 2-0 in the closing game of the preliminary phase.

The Caribbean team beat the Asians twice, first 2-0 and then 5-2, on the field set up on the emblematic Zócalo square.

In this way, the Cuban team reached five successes in group A after beating all the rivals in its group, Lithuanians, South Africans, Mexicans, Hong Kongers and Japanese.

Also, in section A, South Africa beat Lithuania by two games to one, and Mexico beat Hong Kong also in three challenges (2-1).

In Zone B, Venezuela maintained its unstoppable pace by beating Tunisia twice, 8-6 and 4-3, and is firmly in contention for the medals.

In the remaining pool B matches, Taipei of China beat France, and South Korea beat Kenya, both with 2-0 scores.

The top three teams in each zone advanced to the Super Round, where they will carry over the results before facing their rivals in the other group.
