Caribbean Cup

Havana, December 9 (RHC) - Cuba will face Curacao again this Saturday in one of the semifinals of the IV Caribbean Baseball Cup to be held in Nassau, Bahamas 2022.

It will be a revenge game, as the Cuban team defeated on Thursday 8x7 to the monarch exponent Curacao in the last date of the elimination round.

In turn, the Cubans had lost to Curacao 4-3 in the final of the last edition.

In Thursday's clash, the reigning champions signed a troubling five-run bunch in the third inning, in which they negotiated four bases on balls, two from reliever Andy Vargas, and hit a pair of hits, including a double by Raysheandell Miche that brought in two runs.

However, the Cubans were opportune with their bat, they were able to score and in the end they won the game.

Santiago's Yoelquis Guibert was the best with the lumber, hitting three singles, including a home run, to drive in two runs.

The bullpen's Luis Vicente Mateo hit two hits with a single and Alexquemer Sanchez had a pair of hits.

Cuba finished the qualifying phase with three wins and one loss, and will face Curaçao in the semis, while Puerto Rico, leader after beating Bahamas 14-2, will face the Bahamas again.

This Friday will be a rest day and the semifinals will be played on Saturday.
