La Scaloneta returns to Argentina after becoming world champion

Havana, December 19 (RHC)-- Argentina's national soccer team returns to its country today, after becoming champion in the World Cup hosted by Qatar and winning the third cup for the South American country.

According to Télam news agency, the Scaloneta will arrive at Ezeiza International Airport around 19:00, local time, so there will be traffic detours.

The day before, millions of people celebrated the victory of the Albiceleste in all the regions of this nation and a crowd flooded the surroundings of the capital's Obelisk during hours of celebrations.

President Alberto Fernández thanked the local 11 for their efforts and expressed his joy at the victory.

"Always together. We are world champions. There are no more words," wrote the president in his profile on the social network Twitter.

"They are the example that we must not give up. We have a great people and a great future," he added.

The head of state shared messages received from his counterparts Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Mexico), Miguel Díaz Canel (Cuba), Luis Arce (Bolivia) and Emmanuel Macron (France), among others.

Also the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the former Bolivian president Evo Morales and the president-elect of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

"It was a well-deserved triumph, a product of hard work, effort and commitment to our people. They filled us with joy. If Argentina wins, Latin America wins," said Fernández.
