Agricultores, arrival in Venezuela

La Guaira, Venezuela, February 1 (JIT) - The Agricultores team arrived on Tuesday at the Simón Bolívar International Airport, in Maiquetía, to take part in the 65th Gran Caracas 2023 Caribbean Baseball Series, which is scheduled to begin this Thursday.

The welcome was in charge of the Cuban ambassador in this country, Dagoberto Rodríguez Barrera, together with officials of the Cuban mission in Venezuela and the members of the delegation, which is headed by José Antonio Miranda, general director of high performance of Inder.

Rodriguez highlighted in his words the historic ties of brotherhood between the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela, highlighted the passion for baseball in both nations and the tremendous opportunity offered by this event.

He assured that the Cuban players will feel the support of their fellow countrymen in the stands of the stadiums of the competition, many of whom provide health, education and other services in this nation.

Of course, Rodríguez wished success to the team led by Carlos Martí and emphasized the significance of a baseball team abroad in a major competition.

The Cuban delegation quickly covered its migratory procedures and was transferred to its hotel facility with a rigorous security device, confirmation of the design elaborated for the event by the government authorities of Venezuela and Greater Caracas.

At the Marriot Playa Grande Hotel in La Guaira, the Cuban squad will enjoy all the necessary comforts to concentrate on a demanding fair, which only in its preliminary stage reserves seven quality games.

By the way, the Cubans will share a hotel with the team from Curacao, the first rival of the event on February 2 at 10:30 a.m. local time, one hour earlier in Cuba. The rest of the teams will stay in Caracas.

For this Wednesday, Agricultores plans to rest in the morning and train in the afternoon at the César Nieves Park of this state.

Martí ratified upon his arrival in Maiquetía that César García will pitch against Curaçao and that they are still evaluating the line-up options. He acknowledged the strength of the event and assured that the objective is to offer a great show.

The highest authorities of the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation are arriving in Caracas and important meetings are expected in the coming days.
