Santo Domingo, February 14 (PL) - The president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, will flag this Tuesday the Dominican team that will participate in the V World Baseball Classic, scheduled for March 8 to 21.

According to the Dominican Baseball Federation, the ceremony will take place at 4:00 pm, local time, at the Ambassadors Hall of the Presidential Palace, in this capital city.

It is expected that the executives of the discipline, the coaches of the national team and some of the players that make up the team, considered one of the favorites to win the title, will be present.

For the first time, the World Classic will host 20 teams: in Group A will be Cuba, the Netherlands, Panama, Italy and the local team Taipei; in Group B, the Czech Republic, the double champion Japan, South Korea, Australia and China; while Group C is made up of the reigning champion, the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Colombia and Canada.

The "group of death", as specialists call it, segment D features the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Israel and Nicaragua, the first three of which are full of players in the U.S. Major Leagues.

Prior to this activity, the head of state will receive at the same place the Licey Tigers, champions of the Caribbean Series, recently concluded in Greater Caracas, Venezuela.
