Havana - THREE girls in the individual competition and one team will represent Cuba in rhythmic gymnastics at the V Alba Games in Venezuela 2023.

The national commissioner of that discipline, Yainet Villalta, confirmed to JIT that Liety Cutiño, Thalía Torres and Keyla Miranda, the last two members of the group that recently returned from a training base in Russia, were chosen to fight for the individual awards.

"Thalia and Keyla worked there on the renovation of the programs they will be presenting now. We expect them to do their best," explained Yainet, aware of the girls' youth and the benefits of this new experience.

For the event, scheduled for April 21-29, the presence of Russian gymnasts has been confirmed, which will raise the level and will be a challenge for the rest of the contestants.

As for the ensemble modality, the board announced that the Cuban representation will be made up of Rachel Silva, Diana del Pilar Ríos, Danailys León, María Liz Pino and Gabriela Garit.

They will present a program of five hoops and another with three ribbons and two balls, but without having tested them in competitions away from home, so it will be very demanding from the technical and concentration point of view.

Artistic gymnastics was not called for these Games, but trampoline specialists will compete in the individual and synchronized modalities, in which Cuba will bring young Jardiel Crespo and Cristian Oscar Tamayo.

They, with assured tickets for the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023, will seek from April 9 to 14 to qualify for the Pan American Games of Santiago 2023, in the Mexican city of Monterrey.
