Havana, May 24 (RHC)-- The 7th Friendship Race for the 78th anniversary of the victory over fascism and the end of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) will be held in Havana on May 27, its organizers announced Wednesday at a press conference.

This event, which is traditionally organized by the Russian Embassy in Cuba in coordination with the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder) of the island, has a distance of 3.7 kilometers and will be held with start and finish line at the Russian diplomatic headquarters.

"This race will be dedicated to all those who gave their best to rid the world of Nazism and fascism and where more than 27 million people lost their lives in the Soviet Union," said Sergei Oboznov, counselor of the Russian Embassy in Cuba.

As usual, children, teenagers, young people, the elderly and even people with physical disabilities, students of the Russian school in Havana, Russians living on the island and their families and members of the diplomatic corps will participate.

For his part, the second head of the National Commission of Marabana-Maracuba Races and Walks of the Inder, Juan Carlos Mesa, stressed that the event is of great significance for the friendship between the two countries.
